Patricia has been working with Maternidad La Luz since 1998. Born in Juarez, MX, Patricia studied Administration, Computer and Applications, as well as Stenography. Patricia now lives in El Paso with her husband, two children, and five grandchildren. She is an avid traveler, excited by what the world has to offer and teach. Patricia is passionate about Maternidad La Luz, and serves the clients with compassion and care each and every day.

Ambar AlemánCO-OWNERAmbar began her journey of midwifery in 2013 at the Farm with Ina May. She studied midwifery at Dar a Luz in Puerto Rico and then continued her training here in El Paso with a local homebirth midwife.
Ambar was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She is a wife and a the mother of one lovely kid. She likes to do yoga and meditate. Ambar loves her work as a midwife and is dedicated to serving the clients of Maternidad La Luz with respect and care. |
David Carter-PlakeCLINICAL DIRECTORCertified Professional Midwife, and Licensed Midwife in Texas. David worked as a labor and delivery nurse for 22 years, and made the transition into midwifery in 2016.
He is a graduate of Midwives College of Utah and is currently working on his masters degree in Midwifery. He has a passion for teaching student midwives and serving as both a homebirth and clinic midwife. |

Trisha is a native El Pasoan, and mother of three, all born at home.. When not at the clinic, she can be found skydiving, working in her garden, and perfecting her pinball skills.

Michelle Olajide LM, CPMMichelle is a graduate of Maternidad La Luz's one year immersion program and is now licensed as a midwife in the state of Texas. Michelle is originally from Toronto Canada where she practices as a massage therapist. She is the mother of three boys and proud to be a midwife.

Blair Donohue LM, CPMBlair is a graduate of Maternidad La Luz's one year immersion program and is now licensed as a midwife in the state of Texas. She is currently pursing her degree with a desire to work as a medical professional overseas someday.

Bethany MendeBethany began her midwifery journey in 2018 with a homebirth midwife. She is currently working toward her midwifery license in Texas as well as pursuing a degree at EPCC with dreams of becoming a physician someday. She and her husband Jared are the proud owners of two dogs. In their free time they enjoy playing with their dogs, drinking tea and reading.

Susy Mejia PeñaSusy is a graduate of Maternidad La Luz's intensive One year immersion program, where she was able to deepen her love for birth work with high intensity hands on training at our busy birth center. As mother of 5 children, Susy knows what it means to multi task and manage many demands at once. When not offering her wonderful services and skilled hands to birth work, Susy enjoys spending time with her family, and community.

Silvia RuizSilvia has been a member of MLL since 2018. She is a proud mother of three children. When she has moment to herself, Silvia enjoys speeding along open roads, listening to the music with the windows down and sunglasses on.

Celia RuizCelia has been working with the team at MLL since 2005. She is a mother, and a lover of the community cats. When not cooking up a delicious lunch at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones and dancing.
