We welcome all students who desire to become midwives. Students looking into the possibility of midwifery as a profession are also welcomed.
We have openings in our PEP clinical placements for students who live in states where PEP is recognized. Students must check their states midwifery requirements. There are some states that require attendance at a MEAC school. MLL is open to students who are currently enrolled in a MEAC school or who plan on enrolling in a MEAC school.
We have openings in our new Spanish Immersion Program. Students desiring to attend our clinical placement, but who need to learn Spanish or who need to improve their Spanish language skills, may enroll in the Spanish Immersion Program. Students in this program will shadow a fluent Spanish speaker in the birth center, but they will not perform any clinical work. At the end of 30 days, a student's Spanish level is evaluated. If they can perform a mock prenatal and postpartum appointment in Spanish, they will be considered to apply for the clinical program. However, if their Spanish needs to improve, they can continue longer in the Spanish Immersion Program. The Spanish Immersion student must agree to dedicate their time to learning the Spanish language. There are resources and tutors available at an additional cost for students to enhance their Spanish.
